Stillness in the CHAOS
“When Jesus woke up, he rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Silence! Be still!” Suddenly the wind stopped, and there was a great calm.”
– Mark 4:39
We often feel we must combat chaos with action and strength. We forget that being still in the midst of chaos allows for God’s strength to create peace. Jesus slept through a storm on the sea. He knew what so many of us struggle to remember: all of our tribulations will inevitably pass. Jesus chose peace and calm in the midst of the chaos, amplifying the strength of God’s consistency.
2020 forced so many of us into stillness while chaos ravaged around us. Our lives screeched to a halt. There is great beauty in the simplicity of waiting for the storms to end, knowing God is and always will be in control. We learned to rely on the Lord as we watched our world change day after day. Art and literature help us to make sense of the chaos and find peace; don’t shy away from the storms of this world but show your audience how to see the stillness inside.
